Issues that Merit Attention

Since moving to Erwin I've addressed issues which my campaign is built upon both through MySpace and letters to the Erwin Record editor. These issues include:

Each of the above articles is provided summarized for you to the right.

Can We Recycle?

The environment is all around us. We are blessed to live in the midst of the Cherokee National Forest. We must strive to protect our beautiful valley. Recycling is something we shouldn't just talk about, it's something we can do. The benefits are enormous both for nature and revenue for our town.

A Time For Change

Is it possible for us to compete with Jonesboro, Boone or even downtown Bristol? I think so and local government should think so too. We must first develop a building code before a positive change can be made. Once a building code is established, to fit a theme, building and business owners should be encouraged to upgrade their facade by subsidized government incentive programs.

A Dog's World

Where can I take my dog? Nowhere. Man's best friend needs to socialize too. As completion of our Humane Society comes closer, it's time to think about how we can make our town more pet friendly. What I am proposing is the building of a dog park along the Erwin Trail as it's setting is tranquil and maintenance would be minimal.

An Illegal Situation

Right now there is an estimated 20 million illegal immigrants bedding down in our country tonight. We can make a change. By screening potential rentors and employees and holding landlords and business owners accountable, we can prevent our town from becoming a safe haven for them. Removing the burden that they place on our economy and community.
